Riley
This is Riley…
She’s a four year old (guesstimate) that we adopted from the shelter last weekend.
They had her as a fox wirehair mix. She a scruffy adorable little thing that looks like a small Irish wolfhound! Everywhere we brought her, people have commented on that. She weighs just under 40lbs.
She’s spayed, UTD on shots, VERY good with kids (I have a WILD four year old and 14 month old who show her a lot of attention and affection and she soaks it up and is amazing with them), and good with dogs (we have a large rough collie and a little heeler mix). She’s not food aggressive. Walks well on a leash (doesn’t pull you), She loves all people she’s encountered. She goes in a crate easily and doesn’t whine or bark (I think she feels safe there right now – we leave the door open and only close it for cat time). No health issues. Is house trained. She doesn’t know any commands, but we’re working with her! She’s really the perfect dog, but she hates cats.
That’s the only reason I’m possibly seeking a better home for her.
Before I brought her home we cat checked her at the shelter. She was scared of the resident shelter cat and had zero interest in the kittens in the kitten room. Seeing this, we moved forward with a day out with her. We brought her to our home to meet our cats. She showed no interest in our inside cats (we gave them treats and she was unfazed). She also showed no interest in our outside cat. So we moved forward with adoption. I thought I did everything right.
Turns out she hates cats and actively hunts ours. I guess it’s her high prey drive and no fault of her own. We have baby gates up and are working with her, but it’s very stressful and I do fear for our cats at this point.
So here I am.
