Yer.pet respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you use Yer.pet, why it is collected, how it may be used, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.

Yer.pet is designed to collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate the website, allow people to create accounts and listings, communicate with one another, maintain the security and integrity of the service, and support the operation of the site.

Yer.pet does not exist to build or sell profiles about its users.

1. Information You Provide

Account Information

When you create or maintain a Yer.pet account, you may provide information such as:

Username
Email address
First and last name
Profile image
Profile or About Me information
Password or authentication credentials

Passwords created directly through Yer.pet are handled through the site’s WordPress authentication system and are not displayed publicly or made available to other users.

If you choose to sign in with Google, Google may provide Yer.pet with limited account information needed to create or identify your Yer.pet account, such as your name, email address, profile image, and a unique Google account identifier, depending on the permissions used. Google Sign-In can provide basic profile information and email information to a site using the service.

Yer.pet does not receive your Google password.

Pet Listings

When you create a listing, you may provide information such as:

Listing title
Pet photographs
General location
Pet type
Sex
Age
Spay or neuter status
Vaccination status
Description and other information you choose to provide

Listings are intended to be public. Information included in a published listing may therefore be visible to anyone visiting Yer.pet and may be indexed by search engines, copied, linked to, screenshotted, or shared by other users.

Do not place private information such as your street address, financial information, passwords, Social Security number, or other sensitive personal information in a public listing.

Use a city, ZIP code, or other reasonably general location when possible rather than publishing your home address.

Messages

Yer.pet allows registered users to communicate with one another.

Messages and related account information may be stored as necessary to operate the messaging system, maintain the service, investigate reports or abuse, enforce site rules, and address technical, safety, or legal issues.

Private messages are not intended to be publicly displayed.

Contact Forms

If you contact Yer.pet through a contact form, you may provide information such as your name, email address, subject, and the contents of your message.

This information may be transmitted to and retained by Yer.pet as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, provide support, investigate a report or concern, prevent abuse, or maintain appropriate records of the communication.

Favorites, Reports, and Site Activity

Yer.pet may store information associated with features you use, such as:

Saved or favorited listings
Reports you submit
Listing moderation history
Listing and account status information
Actions necessary to operate account features

This information may be used to provide site features, operate and moderate the service, enforce site rules, address safety or abuse concerns, and troubleshoot problems.

Comments and Other User Content

If you comment on articles or otherwise submit content to Yer.pet, the content you submit may be stored and displayed publicly along with information associated with your account.

Do not include information in public comments that you do not want others to see.

2. Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, Yer.pet and the services used to operate it may automatically receive limited technical information when you visit.

Approximate geographic region

When you enter a location into a listing or location search, that information may be processed through mapping or geolocation services, including Google Maps Platform.

Location information may be converted into geographic coordinates and stored or processed as necessary to provide maps, location-based searching, distance calculations, and related features.

A listing’s general location may be displayed publicly.

Yer.pet does not require users to publish their precise home address, and users are encouraged not to do so.

Location information should be limited to what is reasonably necessary to help people determine whether a listing is geographically relevant.

4. How Information Is Used

Yer.pet may use information for purposes including:

Creating and maintaining user accounts
Authenticating users
Publishing and managing listings
Displaying relevant pet listings
Providing location-based search
Allowing users to message one another

Yer.pet does not intentionally collect personal information that is unrelated to providing, operating, improving, or protecting the service.

Please remember that certain information on Yer.pet is intentionally public.

Public pet listings
Listing photographs
General listing location
Public comments
Listing dates and categories

Other users and visitors may copy, screenshot, link to, or share information that you make public.

Yer.pet cannot control copies of information made by third parties after that information has been publicly posted.

If you do not want particular information publicly available, do not include it in a public listing, profile, or comment.

Yer.pet and services used by the website may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies.

These technologies may be used to:

Yer.pet does not provide advertisers with the contents of private user messages for the purpose of choosing advertisements.

Google currently requires certain consent-management measures for advertising involving visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland.

Users may also have choices regarding advertising personalization through Google and other advertising providers.

Yer.pet does not receive monetary payment in exchange for selling users’ personal information.

However, certain advertising or analytics disclosures may be legally classified as “sharing,” “sale,” “targeted advertising,” or similar activity under some privacy laws even when no personal information is sold for money.

Where legally applicable, required choices or opt-out mechanisms will be provided.

8. Google Sign-In

Yer.pet may allow users to create or access an account using Google.

When you use Google Sign-In, Google authenticates your account and may provide Yer.pet with limited profile information necessary to create or locate your Yer.pet account. Google documents that its sign-in services can provide information such as a Google account identifier, name, profile information, and email address.

Yer.pet uses this information to create, identify, and authenticate your Yer.pet account.

Yer.pet does not receive your Google password.

Your use of Google services is also governed by Google’s own privacy practices.

9. Google Maps and Location Services

Yer.pet may use Google Maps Platform or related mapping services for location searches, maps, and geographic features.

When you interact with those features, information necessary to provide the mapping service may be transmitted to Google. This may include location searches and technical request information such as IP address, browser, or device information.

Google processes information received through its services according to its own privacy practices.

10. Social Sharing

Yer.pet uses AddToAny to provide sharing controls for public listings, articles, or other public content.

Loading or using these sharing features may result in limited technical request information being processed by AddToAny or services involved in delivering the sharing functionality. AddToAny states that typical server-request information may be processed by its service providers and that integrations with external services are governed by those services’ own privacy practices.

If you choose a particular sharing service, such as Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, or another platform, that service may receive the page being shared and information related to your interaction.

Your use of those platforms is governed by their own privacy policies.

11. Service Providers

Yer.pet may rely on third parties to provide services necessary to operate the website.

These may include providers of:

Web hosting
Email delivery
Account authentication
Maps and geolocation
Website security
Spam prevention
Backups
Analytics
Advertising
Social sharing
Technical infrastructure

These providers may process information as necessary to provide their respective services or as otherwise permitted by their agreements, policies, and applicable law.

Yer.pet does not give service providers permission to use information for purposes unrelated to providing or supporting the services for which they are engaged, except as otherwise disclosed or permitted by applicable law.

Yer.pet does not intend to disclose personal information merely because someone asks for it.

Public listings may remain available until they are removed, expire, become unavailable, or are deleted.

Deleting an account or listing may remove it from ordinary public access, but copies may remain temporarily in backups, caches, security logs, email records, moderation records, or other records retained for legitimate operational, security, or legal reasons.

Yer.pet does not promise that every technical copy of information will disappear immediately when information is deleted from normal site access.

14. Account Deletion and Privacy Requests

You may contact Yer.pet to request deletion of your account and associated personal information.

If a self-service account deletion option is available through your account settings, you may also use that option.

Depending on applicable law and the circumstances of the request, you may also request:

Access to personal information associated with you
Correction of inaccurate information
Deletion of information
Information about how your information is used
Withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent
Advertising or cookie choices provided by applicable law

Yer.pet may take reasonable steps to verify that a privacy request is being made by the person whose information is involved before fulfilling the request.

Some information may need to be retained when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, moderation records, or enforcement of Yer.pet’s rules.

Privacy rights vary depending on where you live. Yer.pet will honor rights that legally apply to the service and the person making the request.

15. Security

Yer.pet takes reasonable measures intended to protect the website and information stored through it from unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no website, internet transmission, database, email system, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users are responsible for protecting their passwords and account access.

Do not share your password with other people.

If you believe your account has been compromised, change your password and contact Yer.pet promptly.

16. Children and Minors

Yer.pet accounts and pet-rehoming services are intended only for people 18 years of age or older.

Yer.pet is not directed to children and does not knowingly seek personal information from children.

If Yer.pet learns that an account is being used by someone under 18 in violation of these rules, the account may be restricted or closed and associated personal information may be deleted or restricted as appropriate.

Parents or guardians who believe that a minor has improperly provided personal information to Yer.pet may contact Yer.pet so the matter can be reviewed.

17. Animal Information Is Not Human Medical Information

Information concerning a pet’s health, vaccination history, behavior, medical conditions, medications, or other characteristics concerns the animal being listed.

Users should nevertheless avoid including unnecessary private information about themselves or another person when describing an animal.

For example, a listing generally does not need to explain a pet owner’s personal medical condition, family circumstances, financial situation, or other sensitive personal details in order to explain that a pet needs a new home.

18. Links to Other Websites

Yer.pet may contain links to third-party websites or services.

Yer.pet does not control those third parties and is not responsible for their privacy practices.

Information you provide directly to another website or service is governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy practices.

Review the privacy policy of any external service you choose to use.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Yer.pet may update this Privacy Policy as the website, its features, service providers, practices, or applicable requirements change.

When changes are made, the revision date on this page will be updated.

For material changes, Yer.pet may also provide additional notice through the website, by email, or through another reasonable method when appropriate or required.

Your continued use of Yer.pet after an updated Privacy Policy takes effect means that the updated policy applies to information handled after that effective date, subject to any rights provided by applicable law.

Questions, concerns, privacy requests, or requests regarding information associated with your Yer.pet account may be submitted through Yer.pet’s Contact page.

If you believe content posted on Yer.pet uses your photograph, text, or other material without permission, you may also use the Contact page to identify the content and explain the concern.

Please do not send passwords, financial account information, Social Security numbers, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary contact messages.
